Racing to Success

March 1, 2016

What a great night on Saturday (27th Feb)!!!

Congratulations to Victoria on arranging a cracking night of food, drink and a fantastic race night. Over 100 guests helped raise funds sponsoring races, buying horses, having a flutter over 8 races, stand up bingo and of course the raffle. Victoria will also be running the London marathon later this year. All the money raised is going to Barnardo’s.

We were happy to help line stomachs with our homemade steak & potato and Lancashire cheese & onion, whilst Tony & Judith of J W Entertainment kept everyone entertained and the night flowing smoothly with a well organised race night.

It was the first time we had teamed up with J W Entertainment and after such a successful and enjoyable night we are looking forward to anothercouple of events coming up soon! Keep your eyes open!

If you want to support Victoria withe her fundraising you cab do that here

‘Prix’ Race or Post Race Pie?!?

July 11, 2015

Another second Sunday of the month & another Local Producers Market at Towneley. All the regular stalls will be there…Cakes, Preserves, Cheeses, Cards….& PIES!!

We’ve been busy in the kitchen today making a few more pies than we normally do. Firstly, the weather forecast is ok (for a change!) & secondly, there is a Burnley & Pendle Grand Prix race registering/starting near to the market.

Get there early as with 150 runners, who nearly all love a pie, in the area the real race could be the race for pies!

Hopefully see you on Sunday!

PENDLE WITCH Would You Choose??

June 14, 2015

Its market day again at Towneley Hall today! Why not brave the thick cloud & cooler temperatures & pay the Local Producers a visit.

I am unleashing my new Steak & Ale recipe, using Moorhouses Pendle Witches Brew! Alongside that will be the regular favourites Lancashire Cheese & Onion, Chicken & Mushroom & Steak & Potato.

WITCH Pie Catches Your Eye?

WITCH Pie Would You Choose

Cakes/biscuits/desserts can be bought from Ma Beans she usually has eggs from her very own free range hens too!

Mouse Enterprises will be there with a wide variety of seasonal jams/pickles/chutneys amongst other things such as local cheeses.

Wynne is also there with her handcrafted cards for all occasions.
Good Luck to anyone participating in the Race For Life at Towneley too!

If you’ve worked up an appetite then head up & see us!!

Thanks & Good luck

Fancy A Brew?!?

Fancy A Brew?!?

March 27, 2015

Last friday, together with Moorhouses Brewery, The Ark hosted our first ever Pie & Mash night. The stylish bar at the Brewery had been turned into a ‘restaurant’ for the night, comfortably seating our guests for the evening. The night was all about quality pies, quality ales & to raise some money for Moorhouses chosen charity, Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue, who are still tryng to recover from a significant, recent theft.

The Main dish was our signature pie, Steak & Moorhouses Black Cat Ale Pie, locally farmed steak slow cooked in a Black Cat gravy with smokey bacon lardons, baked in a light suet pastry. Guest were also treated to a taster platter with a selection of four other pies, including our two bestsellers, Lancashire Cheese & Onion and Steak & Potato alongside teo new recipes, Chicken & Mushroom and a Kerelan Chicken Curry (an authentic South Indian recipe).

The night was a great success & I am very grateful to all the Moorhouses Barstaff, Chelsea & Jack for their help in the kitchen and Victoria, Dave & Kafia for the front of house service!

A big thank you must be given to Moorhouses Brewery, especially David Grant & Stuart Thompson, who organised the night & are very supportive of myself & other local businesses. Moorhouses do a great job hosting events, putting on brewery tours, comedy nights & other events. Also, a massive thanks to Chef Anthony Muldowney, from Accrington & Rossendale College, who was excellent & organised keeping the food service stress free. He came to help out after a full day teaching, IMG_0069IMG_0067

Try our pies soon, you won’t be disappointed!!

The Premier Lands in Town

August 17, 2014

Monday 18th August finally sees the start of the football season for real as The Premier finally arrives!

We sourced our prime cuts of beef, locally, from Edwards Farm Butchers (shop on Padiham Road), then we asked Moorhouses Brewery if we could use their ‘Premier-Ship’ Ale. The meat has been slow cooked, until it melts in the mouth, with an added ingredient….one that has been largely successful for Burnley Football Club….a bit of Ginger!!
The result is a winner! A real Premier League pie to celebrate the start of Burnley’s season in the top flight.

Pay us a visit at lunchtime….Premier Pie, homemade chips & peas….all at a Championship price of £3!

Good Luck to the Mighty Clarets this season!
