Last friday, together with Moorhouses Brewery, The Ark hosted our first ever Pie & Mash night. The stylish bar at the Brewery had been turned into a ‘restaurant’ for the night, comfortably seating our guests for the evening. The night was all about quality pies, quality ales & to raise some money for Moorhouses chosen charity, Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue, who are still tryng to recover from a significant, recent theft.
The Main dish was our signature pie, Steak & Moorhouses Black Cat Ale Pie, locally farmed steak slow cooked in a Black Cat gravy with smokey bacon lardons, baked in a light suet pastry. Guest were also treated to a taster platter with a selection of four other pies, including our two bestsellers, Lancashire Cheese & Onion and Steak & Potato alongside teo new recipes, Chicken & Mushroom and a Kerelan Chicken Curry (an authentic South Indian recipe).
The night was a great success & I am very grateful to all the Moorhouses Barstaff, Chelsea & Jack for their help in the kitchen and Victoria, Dave & Kafia for the front of house service!
A big thank you must be given to Moorhouses Brewery, especially David Grant & Stuart Thompson, who organised the night & are very supportive of myself & other local businesses. Moorhouses do a great job hosting events, putting on brewery tours, comedy nights & other events. Also, a massive thanks to Chef Anthony Muldowney, from Accrington & Rossendale College, who was excellent & organised keeping the food service stress free. He came to help out after a full day teaching,
Try our pies soon, you won’t be disappointed!!
